subat is a los angeles–based artist, composer, and producer whose work blends modern production with classical afghan and indian influences. drawing from instruments such as harmonium and tabla, he creates music that lives between the cinematic, the intimate, and the unexpected.

selected work includes projects for fox, hulu, lexus, colin & samir (2m+ subscribers), npr, tubi, vespucci productions, and take 2 productions, with credits across television, film, documentaries, podcasts, branded campaigns, and digital media.

over the last decade, his work has expanded beyond composition to include music production, sound design, licensing, and creative collaboration. whether developing an original score, producing a record, crafting sonic identity, or helping shape the narrative direction of a project, he approaches each piece of work with the same focus: serving the story.

working from his venice beach studio, he writes, produces, records, and mixes his work end-to-end.

his debut ep, hurry up & heal (2024), reflects on the resilience of afghans following the taliban's return to power in 2021. during that same period, he transformed his music studio into an operations hub that helped evacuate women, journalists, artists, and other vulnerable individuals trapped in kabul.
